The Order of Malta, the world’s oldest Christian charity founded in Jerusalem over 900 years ago, opened the first American branch of its humanitarian relief agency Malteser International last November. In 2013, Malteser International helped around 10 million people in 26 countries, delivering over $60 million in aid. The agency has provided emergency relief and recovery aid for nearly 60 years worldwide, responding to major crises such as the 2004 Asian Tsunami, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Sandy in 2012, and more recently, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and the ongoing Syrian crisis. Malteser International helps the vulnerable and marginalized lead a healthy life with dignity, without distinction of religion, race or political persuasion.

In addition, there will be a display of rarely seen memorabilia from the Knights of Malta’s private archives including a replica of the 900-year-old Papal Bull authorizing the mission of the Knights of Malta.
