TEA SOMMELIER is a trained and knowledgeable tea professional who has successfully completed the Tea & Herbal Association TEA SOMMELIERProfessional courses and passed a rigorous certification examination. A Tea Sommelier has a thorough understanding of tea and its history, processing methods and preparation, and that, like wine, can be paired with food to enhance the dining experience. They are able to interact easily with anyone on the subject of tea and make recommendations based on their needs in an approachable and easy manner.

Karen Donnelly is a certified TAC Tea SommelierProfessional. Karen has the ability to design a comprehensive tea menu for retail or any food service environment. She is ready to promote the tea culture in hotels and restaurants. Karen has been an afternoon tea event planner, speaker, and teacher for over 20 years. She is passionate about tea. "My favorite part of being a tea professional is "talking tea" with customers, teaching classes and answering questions about the types, preparation and history, and seeing their own excitement for tea grow. My goal is to inspire everyone I meet to make drinking tea part of their daily routine."

Greenhalgh Tea
Karen sources tea from many companies and tea gardens where sustainability and corporate responsibility are as important as the quality of the tea they grow and produce. These select loose leaf teas and blends (many she blends herself) are hand-packed under the Greenhalgh Tea label. Served and sold in the Orchard Tea Room, she also has an on-line store where Karen sells her tea, infusers, and unique items for the tea lover.
Orchard Tea Room
Karen holds classes in the Orchard Tea Room which is located in the Rose Hip Barn, a vintage emporium for very special and unique items for your home. This tea room opens weekly, on Thursdays, 2-8 pm and the last Friday & Saturday of the month, 10 am -5 pm. The Tea Room offers afternoon tea by reservations.
When not open, Orchard Tea Room can be reserved for private events. It is an intimate, charming space that can accommodate parties of up to 28 guests for a seated event. In warmer weather, there is expanded space on the patio under the apple trees that can accommodate 20-30 guests more.
