Kickstarter Staff Pick ‘CNC Caged Dice’ Aims to Make The Coolest Dice Ever

One of the key goals of our campaign is to fund in house production of CNC Caged Dice. With the addition of large capacity CNC machining we will have control of the most critical stage of production, the actual machining of the dice.

Great Falls, MT - On June 13th, 2014, E.G. Toolmakers launched a Kickstarter campaign for the project ‘CNC Caged Dice,’ a product which combines traditional dice and a ‘Turner’s Cube’, which is a complex machining puzzle often tasked to apprentices. The combination makes a unique product that appeals to board game lovers and makes a great conversation piece.

“Cage Dice are unique in that they are machined from a solid cube of metal, the die is not inserted into the cage and cannot be removed. The final machining step frees the enclosed die from its surrounding cage.” - Erik Green, Founder of E.G. Toolmakers

Having already raised $5,664 from 149 early adopters, this project made the Kickstarter Staff Pick list and has received positive comments from the Kickstarter community. The project, which will be accepting pledges until July 28th, aims to fund the initial production run of CNC Caged Dice.

The E.G. Toolmakers team is led by local mechanical engineer Erik Green, who was inspired by the traditional ‘Turner’s Cube’ when creating the mockups for the product. Made from a variety of materials including Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Tungsten and Meteorite, the product is a step above existing industry competitors. After prototyping, Green decided to turn to the Kickstarter community for financing and feedback.

“In the true spirit of Kickstarter we are still in the prototype stage.  All of the major aspects of production manufacturing of CNC Caged Dice have been worked out.  We will continue experimenting with final geometry and various surface finish options as the campaign progresses.  Once final funding is established, we will finalize and fabricate the specialized tooling and fixtures needed for production manufacturing.”

The project will be raising money for a remaining 32 days. For more information, contact the creator below or check out the Kickstarter project here.
