East County Transitional Living Center Renovates and Reveals Updated Teen Center Thanks to Humble Design

El Cajon, CA, USA - February 27, 2021 - East County Transitional Living Center is excited to announce that one of their partnering agencies, Humble Design, a nonprofit that changes lives and neighborhoods by furnishing homes of families, veterans, and individuals emerging from homelessness, will be giving back to ECTLC on March 5th.

Since Humble Design San Diego opened its doors in 2018, they have received almost 30 referrals from ECTLC. ECTLC is located in the heart of El Cajon, and is a charitable foundation dedicated to helping those in need. With the dedication of their volunteers, staff members, and partners, they strive to improve the lives of those experiencing homelessness who need help within the community. 

ECTLC’s campus is a former motel which has been converted into a shelter for homeless families. Each family lives together in a small hotel room with a bathroom and shares a communal dining hall and chapel with all the other participants. They have created a youth center space dedicated for kids aged 10-17 to relax, hang out, play games, and just be kids – but didn’t have a budget to furnish it.

On March 5th, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Humble Design will be furnishing the area, creating flexibility, with each space having multiple uses and functions. The goal is to bring a relaxed and contemporary vibe for the teens. They will be creating a lounge zone, a gaming zone, and a homework zone. They will reveal the space at 3:00 pm - the reveals are always special and emotional.

As 2021 kicks off, employees continue to work remotely as offices across the world remain closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, while employers may have had their hesitations and concerns about productivity, the rapid shift to remote work caused by the pandemic has been successful according to an overwhelming majority of both employers (83%) and employees (71%), reports PwC. It’s also predicted that a hybrid model of working in office and remotely will be popular post-pandemic as employers embrace employees’ continued preference for workplace flexibility.

With this in mind, Schneider Electric will offer thousands of its U.S. employees a more flexible working experience, thanks to a new partnership with Upflex Inc. The partnership was sourced by Colliers, which will work with both companies to provide Schneider Electric’s employees with access to Upflex workspaces.

Schneider Electric will transition to a more flexible workspace option with Desk Memberships and Upflex’s Hub and Spokemodel. This solution will allow Schneider Electric to maintain a centralized, dedicated office space in its key markets and also grant an initial portion of its 10,000 plus U.S. employees access to Upflex’s network of 2,139 U.S. coworking spaces. Upflex and Schneider Electric are also exploring a collaboration that will allow Upflex clients the opportunity to utilize Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure solutions that create smart offices — optimizing space use, reducing facility costs, and improving the comfort and employee experience.

Delbert Anderson and the team at DDAT Management have struck a partnership to help indigenous communities leverage the healing and liberation components of jazz to eliminate or at least reduce the incidence of substance abuse, domestic violence, and suicide with the launch of The Blue Desert Virtual Tour. The virtual tour featuring talented jazz artists, including The Brad Goode Quintet, Ernie Watts, Julia Keefe Quartet, and D’DAT will hold on April 3, 10, and 17 and will be broadcast live across several streaming platforms.

“I want to highlight these healing components of jazz,” said Anderson. “Like liberation, mental health, improvisation, and how it can heal our indigenous communities,” Anderson continued.

Described as black liberation music, jazz has been around for centuries, evolving over the years, thanks to the contribution of several talented acts. 2. Simplify the process.

One key principle of management is to simplify the process. This universal practice can be applied to both sports and business. No matter how difficult the task at hand is, it’s important to break things down and develop a game plan. Sometimes the game is far too complicated for one person to understand, which is why it’s so important to focus on each single step of the process one at a time and to delegate. Effective managers break down complex undertakings and make them understandable so that the team can execute and achieve their objectives.

3. Consistency is key.

In both sports and business, consistency plays a key role in your likelihood to succeed. When former baseball shortstop and third basemen Cal Ripkin was asked about what drove him to be consistent, he replied with, “Any day could have been my greatest day playing the game.” Ripkin played 2,632 games and 21 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. He is the record-holder for the most consecutive games played.
