Matexcel Launches Hydroxyapatite in Different Dimensions for The Application of Orthopedic and Dental Implants

New York - May 31st, 2019 - Matexcel, as a leading products and service provider in materials science, focuses on supplying better polymers, nanoparticles and other materials for worldwide customers from both academia and industry. Matexcel is able to offer a full range of materials covering polymers, metals, ceramics and natural materials, in addition to professional consultation service in manufacturing and characterization, recently launches its one of its Ceramic products - the Hydroxyapatite.

Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is a calcium phosphate morphology and composition similar to human hard tissue. Specifically, it has a hexagonal structure and a stoichiometric Ca / P ratio of 1.67, which is the same bone apatite.

An important feature of hydroxyapatite is its stability compared to other calcium phosphates. Thermodynamically, hydroxyapatite is the most stable calcium phosphate compound under physiological conditions, such as the temperature, pH and composition of body fluids.

With the development of nanotechnology, people have noticed a major impact on materials science. The production of nanomaterials has attracted much attention in adsorption, catalysis and optical applications, especially when it comes to biological materials.

Nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HAp) has attracted interest as a biomaterial for prosthetic applications due to its similarity in size, crystallography and chemical composition of human hard tissue. Bone and enamel are mainly composed of one form of this mineral.

Matexcel provides HAp in different dimensions, from nano to micro sizes, as well as different grades such as research, medical and food grades. As it is featured of biocompatibility, bioactivity, osteoconductivity, non-toxicity and non-inflammatory nature, the hydroxyapatite offered in Matexcel can be applied in various areas, including:

• Oral applications such as toothpaste: Nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HAp) can effectively remineralize and repair tooth surface, also improves the antimicrobial properties and tooth sensitivity.

• Prosthetic applications. HAp coating can be used in uncemented knee prostheses.

• Bone-healing applications such as bone fillers

• Valuable resource that serves as an important agrochemical fertilizer

• Chromatographic separation of biomolecules, such as protein and peptide separations.

• Porous HAp can be used as drug and gene delivery systems
