Continuing on in it’s yearly fall tradition, the Boise State Blue Thunder Marching Band invites local high school band directors to nominate outstanding band students for the opportunity to practice and perform with the Blue Thunder Marching Band. High school band directors from around the valley nominate their students on the Boise State Honor Band website in hopes of their students being selected. Payette High School was thrilled to learn that eight of their hard working and talented students were selected for the 2018 Honor Band! These phenomenal band students are: Cayden Barto, Aubree Bradshaw, Kia Brown, Megan McKenzie, Tony Pelayo, Nick Tompkins, Shannon Edvalson-Wilson and Lisbeth Winsor.
On November 9, 2018, the Honor Band students had the opportunity to spend the day with the BSU Thunder Marching band as they rehearsed, went over marching techniques, had dinner with the band, and were a part of the Tailgate Walk that began at 7:00 pm to kick off the game between the Boise State Broncos and the Fresno State Bulldogs. All of the Honorary Blue Thunder band member’s hard work culminated in the halftime performance on the Blue that surely helped to motivate the Broncos in their 24-17 victory over the Bulldogs. What a memorable experience for these high school kids-turned college band members for a day!
