James joins HX at a pivotal point in the company’s global expansion as it advances its market intelligence, infrastructure activation and ecosystem development activities across hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and wider clean energy markets.
A highly accomplished financial executive with more than 25 years of experience in investment management, corporate finance and institutional capital, James brings extensive expertise spanning global fund leadership, governance, capital formation and strategic market development.
A qualified Chartered Accountant trained at PwC and an Economics graduate, James began his career in finance before progressing to senior leadership positions including at Merrill Lynch in London, where he ultimately became Chief Executive Officer of the Merrill Lynch Investment Solutions Fund Platform.
In 2018, James relocated to Abu Dhabi to serve as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners, a US$1 billion Mubadala-backed investment platform established to support the growth of the Abu Dhabi financial ecosystem and the Abu Dhabi Global Market.
More recently, James served as Founding Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of HYCAP, leading the establishment of a dedicated energy transition investment platform focused on accelerating deployment and investment across the clean energy sector.
Throughout his career, James has built deep expertise in institutional investment, capital raising, governance, stakeholder engagement and international market development, with significant experience across the Middle East, Europe and global financial markets.
