Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Dennis Michael is scheduled to deliver the City’s upcoming State of the City address, an annual event that provides an opportunity to reflect on the city’s progress and discuss priorities for the future.

As the event approaches, Rancho Cucamonga City Council candidate David VanGorden says many residents are paying close attention, particularly as questions continue to surface regarding development, infrastructure, and quality of life across the community.

“The State of the City is an important opportunity for residents to hear directly from city leadership,” VanGorden said. “It’s also a chance to address the questions people are already asking.”

A Time to Reflect — and Look Ahead

The State of the City address traditionally highlights achievements, economic development, and future plans for Rancho Cucamonga.

In recent months, however, community conversations have increasingly focused on several key topics, including:

• the pace of new housing development across the city • infrastructure capacity and traffic concerns • the proposed expansion of the Etiwanda Heights project • neighborhood concerns surrounding Hamilton Family Brewery

VanGorden says these are the types of issues many residents hope will be acknowledged.

“Rancho Cucamonga has grown over the years, and growth can bring opportunity,” he said. “At the same time, residents want to understand how that growth is being managed and how it affects their day-to-day lives.”

Questions Residents Are Asking

VanGorden emphasized that the goal is not to criticize, but to encourage open discussion.

Among the questions residents have raised:

• Is infrastructure keeping pace with development? • How are long-term planning decisions communicated to the public? • How are quality-of-life concerns addressed when issues arise in neighborhoods?

“These are common-sense questions,” VanGorden said. “And events like the State of the City are a natural place for those questions to be part of the conversation.”

Encouraging Community Awareness

VanGorden encourages residents to stay informed and engaged as the city continues to evolve.

“Whether someone agrees or disagrees on a particular issue, the important thing is that people are paying attention and asking questions,” he said.

He added that informed residents play an important role in shaping the future of Rancho Cucamonga.

Continuing the Conversation

VanGorden will be discussing development, infrastructure, and community concerns at upcoming meetings, including the April 7 California Republican Assembly (CRA) meeting in Rancho Cucamonga.
