Los Angeles, CA - EcomBack, a leading digital accessibility company, has released its 2025 ADA Website Accessibility Lawsuit Report, revealing a continued surge in legal actions against businesses over website accessibility.
The report documents 3,948 ADA-related website lawsuits filed in 2025, highlighting the urgent need for companies to prioritize inclusive digital experiences and proactive compliance.
“Businesses are getting blindsided by these lawsuits,” said Nayan Padrai, CEO of EcomBack. “Accessibility has become a real challenge when companies don’t know what is required of them legally. Then, businesses wind up paying legal fees to settle or defend lawsuits instead of investing money in accessibility.”
Key findings from the report show that:
- A growing concentration of ADA lawsuits among a small group of plaintiffs and law firms highlights the persistent legal exposure businesses face, with 40 law firms and 251 plaintiffs accounting for all filings. Notably, 33 plaintiffs alone initiated over half of the lawsuits. Equal Access Law Group, PLLC and Manning Law, APC led the charge, with 641 cases and 615 cases, respectively.
- Accessibility widgets and plug-ins proved ineffective in preventing litigation, with nearly 25% of lawsuits targeting websites that used such tools as quick fixes instead of addressing core compliance issues.
- Food and beverage, and restaurant sectors remain the biggest target, facing over 1,300 lawsuits due to their reliance on high-traffic, interactive digital experiences where accessibility failures are common, such as online menus, ordering, reservations, and location finders.
- Demand letters continue to rise, increasing legal exposure for businesses that do not proactively address website accessibility.
This report draws on research and analysis of ADA website accessibility lawsuits, utilizing data from a range of public and commercial legal data sources, including PACER, CourtLink, and state court case search portals. The dataset encompasses cases filed between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025.
