Mexicali Blue Announces "El Diablo Grande Challenge," a 6-Pound Burrito Contest Designed for Social Media and Competitive Eaters

Participants have 25 minutes to finish the largest burrito in the Hudson Valley for a chance to win the meal free, a $50 gift card, and a spot on the Wall of Fire.

Wappingers Falls, NY - Nov 6, 2025 - Mexicali Blue, a top-rated Mexican restaurant and happy hour destination in Wappingers Falls, New York — with more than 803 Google reviews, today announced the launch of its newest in-store promotion, the “El Diablo Grande Challenge.” The challenge invites guests, competitive eaters, and content creators to attempt to finish a six-pound burrito in 25 minutes under structured, on-camera conditions.

“This challenge was created to be memorable, competitive, and highly shareable,” said a Mexicali Blue spokesperson. “We wanted something that reflects the energy of our restaurant and gives people a reason to come in, film, and tell their friends. The challenge is available during normal business hours, with earlier seatings recommended to allow staff to assist with filming.

What Is in the El Diablo Grande

The El Diablo Grande is a chef-crafted, large-format burrito prepared to be visually compelling for social media.

  • 4 flour tortillas fused into one large wrap

  • Approximately 5 pounds of total ingredients, including:

    • 1 ½ of carne asada

    • 1 ½ of slow-braised BBQ Brisket

    • 1 pound of Mexicali rice, black beans, and queso

    • 1 pound of toppings, including pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños, and ghost pepper hot sauce

  • Finished with molten queso, a jalapeño garnish, and ghost hot sauce for presentation

  • Plated in a “volcano-style” format intended for on-camera content

Official Rules

  1. Participant must finish 100 percent of the burrito within 25 minutes.

  2. No bathroom breaks or outside assistance are permitted during the challenge.

  3. Water may be consumed during the attempt.

  4. The challenge must be filmed. Participant may film it personally or an authorized Mexicali Blue staff to record the attempt for marketing, social media, or promotional purposes.

  5. Participant agrees to allow Mexicali Blue to use challenge footage, name (or nickname), and image for marketing or promotional use.

Prizes and Outcomes

Successful completion (within 25 minutes):

  • Entry meal is comped (no charge)

  • $50 Mexicali Blue gift card

  • Photo and nickname added to the Wall of Fire

  • Honorary title: “El Diablo Slayer”

Unsuccessful attempt:

  • Participant is added to the Wall of Shame with a “El Diablo Wins Again” caption

  • Staff announces the result in-store

  • Entry fee of $5 remains in effect

  • Two-Person Version: Two participants may split a 6 pound burrito; however, the time limit is reduced to 15 minutes.

  • Monthly Leaderboard: The fastest successful finisher in a calendar month may be awarded additional in-house prizes such as a free taco, for a week.
