The executive said that currently Schneider Electric seeks to reach a 40% female participation in Latin America and increase the participation of women in management positions.
Francisco de Regil, Vice President of Human Resources for South America of Schneider Electric, leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, during his visit to Chile shared how the Schneider Electric has managed to lead different rankings Global projects on diversity and labor inclusion and related their continued work to attract more women to management positions in an industry traditionally occupied by men.
"We must understand that diversity in companies is not a concept, but a reality that must be lived every day. Today Schneider Electric does not recognize us by programs, but by who we are... We have the conviction that equality and diversity is fundamental for people to reach their maximum potential and develop their skills. Today we want to be the most inclusive company, it is part of our DNA and vision," explained de Regil.
Recently the Schneider Electric was recognized by the Annual Index of Equileap as one of the 15 leading companies in gender equity globally and first in the industrial sector. The methodology, inspired by the Women's Empowerment Principles of the United Nations, analyzes 19 non-financial criteria that impact on gender equity, such as salary parity, opportunities for professional advancement, gender equity in subcontractors, family leave policies and programs against sexual harassment and discrimination at work.
In this line, the executive said that Schneider Electric is continuously working to integrate better policies and understanding of local challenges in order to meet the needs of its workers and customers.
Women in managerial positions
One of the main challenges of the company in Latin America is to increase its female participation to 40%, and that more and more professionals are attracted to hold managerial positions.
"We not only look for women working here, but that they make decisions in the Schneider Electric, that have management positions, that achieve their greatest potential. At a global level we want 30% of women to be in management positions, in South America this is already advanced, we have a 28% participation in these positions," revealed Regil.
The executive explained that this challenge is also accompanied by specific programs to improve gaps in wage inequality. "We are looking to pay for results. There is no discrimination class, neither for men nor for women. Reality says that women have always been worse paid and we are continually applying strategies to avoid that margin. Today, in South America, we have achieved that men and women in similar positions have the same salary, we have a 0.0 difference in the wage gap, "he said.
Gender pay equality is among the indicators included in the "Schneider Sustainability Impact", the transformation plan of the organization and the management tool for sustainability.
Over the past five years, Schneider Electric has continued its association with the HeforShe movement as "IMPACT 10X10X10 Champion", one of the 30 key decision-making elements for governments, corporations and universities that spearhead the equity-making initiative. gender an institutional priority.
