Los Angeles, CA - On September 23, Industry VFX, a visual effects studio based in Los Angeles, launched a Kickstarter campaign for ‘The Message,’ a new short film set in Tokyo, Japan that uses hyper-realistic CGI to tell a story about success and failure in today’s world of information technology.
“I wanted to create a story that takes place in Tokyo, but it's really hard to shoot live action plates in some of those areas. Therefore I decided to go a complete CGI route. When completed, the message will be over 120 fully CGI shots.” - Gerald Abraham, founder of Industry VFX.
The project originated from Abraham’s love of anime, video games, and Japanese culture and has since grown into a short film that features eight major professional visual effects artists, who have laid the groundwork for ‘The Message’ project.
Having created the trailers and story environment, Industry VFX decided to turn to the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform to finance the continued development of ‘The Message’ and give supporters access to exclusive rewards.
In exchange for supporting the project, backers can choose from rewards or perks including fan posters, onscreen credit, a digital download or blue ray copy of the short film, the option to be included as an extra in the film and more.
“The Message is story about how far someone will push themselves to share their creativity with the world,” says Abraham. “It’s meant to inspire people everywhere to use any means they can to get their own message out. Right now, I have a few talented friends helping me finish The Message in their free time, but a successful Kickstarter will allow them to dedicate more hours to the project.”
