Greenfield Language Academy Shows Off Multilingual Program to San Diego Office of Education

The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) facilitated a tour for educators from all over California to visit Greenfield Language Academy in El Cajon. Greenfield puts an emphasis on helping students become a part of a global community as they develop and become proficient in two or three languages. Many students at this school have been cultivating their multilingual skills since Kindergarten at Greenfield’s sister school housing K-5 students, Bostonia Language Academy.

The SDCOE tour took educators and administrators through the campus to observe classrooms and student interactions in a successful environment where multiple languages are taught. Educators visiting from El Centro noted that being multilingual matters so much today because it opens a lot of avenues to future careers as well as exposes students to other cultures and experiences.

Greenfield Language Academy represents the future of education, where schools are preparing students for the reality of their futures in today’s world, with global markets and many cultures around them. This school is ensuring students don’t get left behind or passed up in their futures when they seek employment because their experiences and skills will easily compete with their peers.

Greenfield Language Academy hopes that tours and visits like this one from the San Diego County Office of Education will continue in the future to forge relationships within the community. Principal Julie McClintock was grateful to have the chance to show visitors her amazing school and said, “We look forward to collaborating with SDCOE] in the future and the great things we can build together for our students.”
