Mark Gibboney To Run For Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga

Mark Gibboney to run for Rancho Cucamonga Mayor.
Longtime Rancho Cucamonga resident, Mark Gibboney, has announced that he will run for Mayor in the November 6th election.

Longtime Rancho Cucamonga resident and a retired Deputy Chief of Police, circulated his Nomination Paper to collect signatures to run for the office of Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga in the November 6th election.

Registered voters responded with support and substantial signatures more than sufficient to place him on the ballot for the November 6th general election.

Gibboney made the formal announcement of his candidacy in front of a group of supporters from the steps of City Hall alongside his wife of 35 years, Agnes, and their two daughters.

“City Hall is where residents expect to be represented and decisions made for the best interest for the City as a whole. This, as well as the fact that transparency in local government needs to be practiced and not just promised,” states Gibboney.

“Rancho Cucamonga has been a wonderful city to live in and raise a family. However the very character of the City is changing to the detriment of the quality of life here. I want to be able to say I love this city 5 or 10 years from now as my motivation to run for office.

“High density development is the biggest threat to the way of life in Rancho Cucamonga. It brings overcrowding, congestion, traffic, stresses to services and resources.”

He supports a return to careful planning and controlled growth, while maintaining the General Plan. Gibboney said while the City’s demographics result in consistently being ranked among the “Safest Cities” because of low rates of violent crimes.

Gibboney continues, “The City has become a target for property crimes. That and the fact that higher density populations result in higher crime rates, public safety needs to be a priority.

“Residents could make a difference by electing me Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga. If residents wanted to make an immediate change in the direction of the City I encourage those in District 2 to vote for Kevin Kenley for City Council and in District 3 to vote for Ben Cutler.

“Both of these candidates for City Council closely agree with me on the most important issues.

“In discussing issues and concerns with residents, they have seen the City gradually deteriorate. It makes sense that unless there are sweeping changes made in the City Council personnel, there will be continued deterioration on the immediate horizon,” concludes Gibboney.
