Deep Sense of Empathy and Philanthropy Can Transform Brokerage Industry, Says Kiran Kaushal, President and Principal Broker, Interfinance Mortgage

August 20, 2018 - Helping clients find their dream home is a lifelong passion of Kiran Kaushal, President and Principal Broker of Interfinance Mortgage Corporation. Her successes however wouldn’t be possible without a deep sense of compassion and philanthropy, two core values around which her life and business continue to revolve.

An empathetic understanding can transform a brokering and lending business, as Kiran’s business history reveals. She loves the mortgage industry, as it touches her own innate joy when she helps clients live a great life in their preferred home.

I am direct and straightforward with my clients. When we work out a solution together, I don’t sugarcoat because I want to help my clients have great lives in homes they love,” says Kiran.

Acting as a broke invokes another strong emotion in Kiran, who grew up in the North York community, and she went on to study information management at Toronto’s Ryerson University, and then started her business in North York. Her love for home and community made her join her family business. After facing the devastating loss of her brother, Shyam Kaushal to bone cancer in 2009, Kiran and her family launched the Shyam Kaushal Charitable Trust Foundation in 2010.

The mission of Shyam Kaushal Charitable Trust Foundation is to raise funds for worthy causes, and foster hope, strength and determination in the needy. The Foundation has raised $350,000 for community and global charities. The Foundation began its work by pooling $45,000 for Mount Sinai Hospital to aid osteosarcoma stem cell research. Other notable work includes supporting causes such as Autism Ontario, The Terry Fox Foundation, Giant Steps, Easter Seals, War Amps, The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Jumpstart Canada, Mackenzie Health, the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada, the Toronto Artillery Foundation, and many more.

The Foundation has been active in supporting several social and community initiatives. It has offered scholarships to children with autism, acquired a new MRI machine for the Mackenzie Health Hospital, funded Life Skills Room for autistic children, a palliative care room, recreational limbs for child amputees, and supported training of pediatric nurses in Ghana, besides building a school in Kenya.
