The ability to treat chip cards as sources of "keystroke data" not only radically simplifies development, but creates a quick, plug-and-play path to EMV compliance for merchants. All swiped and chip data is encrypted by the hardware, so merchant POS or cloud-based systems never touch the unencrypted data.
