About The Author

Jahna Monet Richards was born and raised, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Every day since 2003, Jahna has awakened with joy beaming through her spirit. She has always been complimented by teachers and adults for her great disposition and mannerism. Jahna is an avid lover of dance, gymnastics & cheer and color-guards and has competed for many years.  Jahna also has a great interest in science. She’s won several awards in Science Fairs at school and many medals in competitive gymnastics.  The competitions were never motivators, however, the camaraderie that she created amongst her friends gave her purpose.

Jahna’s social butterfly spirit has flourished as she stays connected with her peers and is known as a teen influencer in her community. Since the age of 7, Jahna has had the privilege of obtaining scholarships from overnight camps within 300 miles from home to attend during her time off from school. Around age 9, Jahna expressed an interest in becoming a Marine Biologist.  By middle school, Jahna wasn’t receiving any challenging work at school so mom had her do 7th grade online at home. The acceleration she achieved from online was mind-blowing. When she first attended Kennesaw Mountain High for 9th grade, she was already taking 11th-grade courses and all Honors classes. She excels in her academics, the Oboe in the band, and her favorite sport is color guards.

Jahna was raised in a single parent household after her parent’s divorce.  Her mother became her guardian at the young age of 3.  Growing up in a single parent household Jahna was blessed to have a Mother who made a commitment to reach out to different community resources to help to fund Jahna’s dreams. Jahna’s father was also determined to be a positive force in her life; despite being unable to support her financially after becoming disabled. Which, at the same time her older sister went off to college. Nevertheless, Jahna continued to receive all the creative energy she could harness from both parents which kept her smiling and focused!

In 2017, Jahna’s creative energy gave her the idea to write a book about her big sister, Anya. Who at 17, flew her first plane.  Jahna was so inspired by her sister’s will and determination and felt that the same things that she was using to inspire herself could be used to inspire others.  Jahna felt certain that other teens in her community and beyond who have overcome similar obstacles and more could use something to encourage them to achieve their dreams and goals.  Hence, Aubry’s 1st Flight began.  The start of this exciting journey for Jahna; who has travailed with the familiar deposits of love from both parents and the multi-tasking of a single mom, to stay focused on her goal to wake up and embrace every day with joy and be the cohesive spirit for self and others.

That inviting look in her eyes says “comfort” and that smile says “C’mon, you can do it too”!
