Sitting on the south shore of Rhode Island, Westerly town is a quiet residential community in the winter which swells in the summer for tourists who are eager to explore the local beaches, Narragansett Bay and the Rhode Island Sound. Over the border from Connecticut, Westerly is conveniently situated to the Aquarium at Mystic, as well as the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos. There are also the picturesque village of Watch Hill features ocean views, ice cream shops, and craft boutiques.

Today, Westerly is known as one of the best shoreline destinations in the country, thanks to the 5 star hotel known as the Ocean House, a well known celebrity who owns here and modern day technology that allows us to share this great place with everyone.

Westerly Rhode Island possesses some of the best bars in the south country with other spices most especially Sushy. Here’s a look at some.

Friar Tuck’s Tavern: It’s a nice little places tucked away on the commercial end of water street. The lobster roll was amazing and priced well. The menu has a variety of options from scotch eggs or calamari as appetizers to bangers and mash or chicken tikka masala for an entree. They serve great beers on tap with extremely friendly service.

Two Little Fish: They major in Fish & Chips, seafood, clam cakes, crab cakes and clam strips. There are also the belly clams, lobster roll, clam chowder and they serve Narragansett beers too.

Ju Sushi: It has the Sushi Bars, and offers Salad, Soup for a great price and always willing to accommodate a special order. Also available are monkey brain which was amazing, sushi rolls, and avocado roll.

Koi Japanese Cuisine: Here, there is also the sushi bar, sushi, avocado salad, the haru roll, the Thai spicy roll or the spicy crab roll and the hibachi is awesome too!

Go Fish Restaurant: They have Seafood, Sushi Bars, Wine Bars, as well as Tokyo Nachos Cornmeal Fried Oysters with Fried Peppers, Shrimp Tempura Roll Coconut Cake, Lobster Roll, Clam chowder, Fish and Chips etc.

Things To Do In Westerly, RI | Coastal Weekend Getaways

Geographically located on Rhode Island’s southwestern tip, Westerly is a classic New England town with a sweet activities especially in summer, when foreigners tour the beachfront communities of Misquamicut and Watch Hill where the lighthouse of Thomas Jefferson is and the beach has flying horses for kids to ride and adults to watch. You can visit the museum to uncover the lighthouse's past via photographs, letters, and journals.

There are also Westerly’s historic downtown's shops and restaurants, art galleries, and 15-acre Victorian park, then south to the picturesque shoreline and nature escape of Napatree Point.

Besides visiting those places, you could also take a stroll by the seashore, with the Narragansett Bay to the north and wide open waters to the south, to the west is the Fishers Island while Napatree point is famous for its beauty with migrating birds descending there which all make for nice sight seeing.

Another thing to do is to hang out at the 1 1/2mile Misquamicut hotel; enjoy clean, clear waters and the amenities there.

Also, at the Mystic Aquarium you can watch a live sea lion show, watch sharks get fed, and meet the only beluga whales in New England.

Via the Norwich-Westerly road, you can see more of Rhode Island with a day trip to Providence where the Roger Williams Park Zoo will impress.

Moreso, you can hop on the Block Island Ferry for a picturesque tour to this refreshing destination with swimming and snorkeling to kayaking and fishing.
