Alfa Chemistry Announced Production Expansion of Organosilicon Compounds

To meet the growing demand of Organic Silicon Compounds, Alfa Chemistry announced the production expansion of its organosilicon compounds on 30 August, 2017.

To meet the growing demand of Organic Silicon Compounds, Alfa Chemistry announced the production expansion of its organosilicon compounds on 30 August, 2017.

For the past decade, Alfa Chemistry has been providing a range of competitive organosilicon compounds with high quality to customers in many important fields apart from silicone chemistry, such as materials science and in metallurgy. Nowadays, the usage of organic silicon compounds has become an increasingly important application in organic chemistry. As such, Alfa Chemistry has become a key supplier for many types of organosilicon compounds.

Organosilicon compounds, refers to as "organic silicon", which means the organic compound containing carbon - silicon bond inside the molecule structure. It has features that similar to the organic carbon compounds but also has difference with it. For example, the silicone molecule silicon - only contains single bond between silicon atoms but not containing double and triple bonds.

Among organosilicon compounds, Silanols refer to the class of compounds bearing the functional group Si-OH akin to the hydroxyl functional group (CûOûH) of alcohols. But unlike alcohols, they are more acidic and mostly be prepared by hydrolysis of silyl chlorides. The applications of silanols products are classified into usages in organic synthesis and silicon-based materials. And silanol-terminated silicon has extensive application in the area of surface modification. For example, trimethylsilanol reacts with silanol groups on the surface forming a hydrophobic layer of methyl groups when applied on silicate surfaces. Silanols have long been used in curing silicone polymers.

Siloxane refers to a functional group with the Si–O–Si linkage in organosilicon chemistry. Siloxanes are commonly used in the preparation of the polysiloxane protective coatings. Other usage of siloxanes include the use as reagents in silylation, vinylation of a broad range of aryl iodides and in the preparation of organosilanes. A popular siloxane product, Methoxytriethyleneoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (CAS: 132388-45-5), can be used to reducing electrostatic forces on substrates in AFM studies and used as modified additives in functional materials.

“As a leading manufacturer of organosilicon compounds, we will continue to offer quality products and services to meet the needs from our customers all over the world. And thanks to the rise in our sales of organosilicon compounds, we decide to expand its production,” said Dr. Anna Smith, a senior researcher at Alfa Chemistry.
