Monspace Multinational Corp Hands Over Second Bariatric Ambulance to St. John Ambulance of Malaysia Selangor

St. John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM) is a branch of St. John Ambulance International. Founded in 1908, it is a non-profit, non government organisation with a mission to provide medical assistance to those who need it.

Its offers services such as haemodialysis, ambulance, first aid, first aid standby, community service, and highway emergency ambulance.

On 12 August 2017 (Saturday), St. John Ambulance of Malaysia Kawasan Pantai Selangor (SJAM-KPS) held a gala celebrating its 40th anniversary. Group CEO of Monspace Multinational Corp, Dato’ Sri Jessy Lai was invited.

Besides fundraising, the event also aimed to increase public awareness about the work of SJAM, so more people understand the life-saving purpose of the organisation.

Last year, Monspace donated Malaysia’s first ever bariatric ambulance to SJAM, in order to help the obese receive better healthcare. This ambulance was also listed in the 2016 Malaysian Book of Records.

Dato’ Sri Jessy Lai, who has always been passionate about charity, announced earlier that she would donate a second bariatric ambulance to SJAM. On the gala, she officially handed over said ambulance, along with a new Toyota Avanza RV to SJAM Selangor for their day to day operations.

“Obesity is an increasingly serious problem in Malaysia. SJAM faced difficulties in the past when transporting obese patients to the hospital, so I decided to help when I knew about the issue,” said Lai, CEO of Monspace.

YBhg Dato' Yeo Kim Thong, state commander of SJAM Selangor said Lai’s donation is very timely, and has helped overcome the organisation’s challenge in providing medical aid to obese patients.

“Monspace is donating the second bariatric ambulance to give SJAM Selangor more flexibility in the allocation of resources. We want to ensure no one misses the urgent medical attention they need due to a lack of vehicles. The RV would be useful in sending SJAM personnels to emergency sites and regular training sessions,” said Lai.

SJAM’s 40th anniversary gala was an exciting one. There was a lucky draw which gave out exciting prizes, and a renowned band which performed live.

Other VIPs present were former national chairman of SJAM Dato Dr. Low Bin Tick, state commander of SJAM Selangor YBhg Dato' Yeo Kim Thong, and Chairman of SJAM-KPS Dato Dr. Lim Sim Boon.
