What Weekends Are For is the first book on the What things Are For book series. This books teaches kids how to be creative with their minds while at the prime age for learning, and gives them ideas on how to spend their time on the weekends. Each book is an optional coloring book and includes a "This Book Belongs To" page, which makes it personal as well as a blank page at the end of the book for kids to come up with their own ideas and pictures

The Author, Kenny Sanders had this to say about what makes What Things Are For books different from other children’s books? “Most kids love to draw and show their creative side, which is why these books are an optional coloring book and includes a blank page on each book for kids to draw something using their creative minds. This helps the kids get involved with the learning process.” He also stressed the importance of simplicity in creating the series. “What Things Are For books have minimal wordage which children tend to tune out if a book has too many words. When the child tunes out, they aren’t learning. What Things Are For series strives to keep the reader/listener engaged while having fun which in return progresses their learning abilities.”

The main aim of writing this book is to encourage learning in children. Many of us have read books as kids that would actually stick with us as adults. What Things Are For books have meaning for both kids and adults. The author was geared to write these books in simplicity as a reminder for both kids and parents / adults to live life to the fullest while shaping young minds to become responsible adults. The books are optional coloring books so the reader can get involved by using their creative minds.
