PTZOptics announces 4 new PTZ Cameras

Imagine an entire generation of video engineers who will never use expensive SDI cabling and capture devices. Using NDI we will have access to sources from anywhere on our network. We will no longer be restricted to sources directly connected to a single system.
PTZOptics announces four new NDI compatible PTZ camera models with built-in NDI, NewTek's industry leading IP technology. The new 12x and 20x NDI camera models, priced at $2,399 MSRP.

Philadelphia, PA - July 15th, 2017 - PTZOptics today announces a whole new line of PTZ camera models with built-in NDI, NewTek’s industry leading IP technology. The four new 12x and 20x NDI camera models, priced at $2,399 MSRP will support Power, Control, audio and video all over a single Ethernet cable simplifying installation and setup for live streaming systems. The new NDI cameras will include:

  • NDI Version 3 which among many things includes a high-efficiency mode that allows cameras and a/v converters with built-in NDI

    • Auto Detect and naming just by plugging into a standard ethernet port

    • Audio and video

    • Full PTZ Control including presets

    • Power over Ethernet

    • Works with every computer based multi-camera live production system and with all compatible NDI products which today are in the hands of millions of customers

“NDI is a paradigm shift that will increase what is possible in all things live video.” says Paul Richards, Chief Streaming Officer at PTZOpics. “ Live broadcasters are really starting to think outside the box about how to plan out live streaming and video production systems in the world of IP… we can now use standard networking infrastructure to route high quality video for low budget streaming and high end video productions systems.

The “low hanging fruit” says Richards are capture cards. “Imagine an entire generation of video engineers who will never use expensive SDI cabling and capture devices. Using NDI we will have access to sources from anywhere on our network. We will no longer be restricted to sources directly connected to a single system.” Capture cards are used for low latency video conversion from traditional HDMI or SDI video to USB or PCIe where they are used with production software such as vMix, Wirecast, LiveStream and more. “What if we could eliminate the need for capture cards altogether by providing the same quality, low latency video directly to Wirecast, vMix, Live Stream, OBS, or XSplit over the Ethernet connection we are already using?” Says Richards.

PTZOptics cameras are an industry favorite because of their expertise and amazing value. NewTek’s expertise is software and IP video.  We just announced NDI version 3, the third generation of our royalty-free IP video technology. This version provides the largest feature and performance advancements ever, including support for PTZ camera control, tally and embedded NDI support for hardware devices such as cameras and a/v signal converters. It is a perfect match for NewTek and PTZ Optics to collaborate on a PTZ camera that firmly grounds our vision for the all-IP future of video production.

“This is where the rubber meets the road” Richards noted, “because unlike SDI cabling, Ethernet can provide power for cameras using a PoE source, such as a switch, simplifying installation and eliminating the need for additional outlets. And unlike traditional RS-232 control cables, Ethernet can also be used to control our cameras within your favorite video production software or via one of our IP joysticks without requiring direct analog control cabling to each camera.”

Current PTZOptics Gen 2 SDI camera owners can upgrade their camera firmware to add NDI support. This firmware will be available for pre-order starting August 1st 2017. Customers can sign up for notifications here: http://ptzoptics.com/landing/ndi-upgrade.html
