Miami, FL - One of the graphic design industries’ most important guilds recently concluded their annual conference in Miami, Florida. The Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) held its conference from June 8-10 at the Loews Hotel in Miami Beach.
One if the conferences highlights was the large number of international exhibitors and speakers. Design professionals from China, Brazil and Colombia stole the show.
Colombia hosted several innovative designers including Eder Luis Peñaranda Henríquez. Eder is an award winning deigner, iventor and YouTuber one of the best in his countires. His clients include Shure, Hilton Hotel and Pequenos Heroesa popular Colombian cartoon.
To the exhibition Eder brought his invention called Gua-gira. Gua-gira, is a mechanism for supplying fresh water for human consumption, which takes advantage of wind energy and the resource of sea water or water in deep wells to provide fresh water to users.
The project is designed with a global vision as it can be applied anywhere in the world where there is a source of ground or sea water and wind.
It works through a system known as reverse osmosis, where by means of the mechanism’s pumping system and the force of the wind, the sea water goes through a system of micro filtration by force thus cleaning up to 99% of the water this way leaving it optimal for human consumption.
Eder takes credit for the design and eningeering of the Gua-gira while his co-inventors defined its use and marketability.
Eder has studied in Argentina, Colombia and attended reputable worksops in the United States. Eder has managed various design and media companies including Challenger S.A., La Nube Fabrica de Ideas S.A.S, and his own brand Ederland.
Today Eder is ranked as one of the top graphic designing Youtubers in Colombia with over 1 million views of his materials and 19,000 subscribers. Eder’s work has earned him the title of the youngest professor of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, Colombia’s most prestigious university. He is also a vritual instructor at academies worldwide such Render Factor (Spain), Somos DI (Mexico) and Ederland (Colombia).
Eder’s extraordiary worked has won several national and international awards inclufing first place in the Contest of Innovative Ideas SENA 2009, inventor of the year 2010 for the Brigard & Castro award and third place at the French Les 24h de l'innovation of the year 2014.
