Getting hired has just gotten way easier. Search engine giant Google has just announced its release of a new job search feature. The upgrade allows users to search for jobs across most of job posting websites such as LinkedIn, Way Up, Monster, and much more.

The concept of the new feature is to compile multiple job listings to make it easier for job finders to locate a suitable employment without having to access multiple job listing platforms.

The new feature, which is available both on computers and mobile phones, helps you find jobs conforming to the criteria you enter in the search bar. For example, is you type the phrase “jobs near me” in the search bar, Google will display job posts from different platforms that are located within your vicinity.

Another example is, typing the phrase “writing jobs” will allow you to view writing-related jobs on the search results of Google. The feature helps you refine your query more for you to find jobs that are compatible with your skills and preferences.

Clicking on a particular job post would allow you to view Glassdoor and Indeed rating of that job hence, giving you a small overview of that particular job.

“Finding a job is like dating,” Nick Zakrasek, Google’s product manager for this project, reportedly said. “Each person has a unique set of preferences and it only takes one person to fill this job.”

The way these new feature works is that it first determines duplicate job postings from the same employers, and then Google’s AI system categorizes each job post. This process is complemented by various job platforms already installed categories.

After you choose a particular job, Google will then redirect you to the web page that job is located. There you can start the process of applying and getting an interview for that job. If Google sees that the same job post is available on multiple sites, Google will redirect you to the one that gives the most information.

“We hope this will act as an incentive for sites to share all the pertinent details in their listings for job seekers,” a Google spokesperson said.

The feature is limited to helping applicants finds job posts, as for the actual application process, the independent job listing platforms are free to follow their own protocols and procedures.

Google clarified that it has no intention to create its own job listing platform. This is to avoid competing with industry veterans like Monster and Career Builder. “We want to do what we do best: search,” Zakrasek said. “We want the players in the ecosystem to be more successful. Anything beyond that is not in Google’s wheelhouse,” he added.

“Google’s new job search product aligns with our core strategy and will allow candidates to explore jobs from across the web and refine search criteria to meet their unique needs,” reportedly said Conal Thompson, Monster.com’s CTO. “Yes, as with anything, there will be some challenges and adjustments to existing job posting sites; the biggest perhaps being for those that are currently driven by SEO,” he added.
