Benjamin Dupin, the man behind stunning visual effects in movies

Visual effect and graphic artist Benjamin Dupin is the man behind 3D animations in the movie Asterix and stunning backgrounds in the movie such as Casanova, EntreAmis, L’odeur De la Mandarine among many others. These artists who work behind their computers day and night are hardly recognised for their contribution to TV and cinema. We all see the entertaining animations and stunning visuals in the movies, but least care about the people who have created them. Benjamin Dupin is one such man, who has proved his talent in the industry again and again through his variety of work.

Apart from developing animations and C.G  for movies, he has also developed visuals for advertisements for the popular brands such as Mr Muscle. Twix, Toyota, Lux, Samsung Rio 2016, Toyota and Gatorade among others. People see these commercials every day on their TV screens but don’t know the artists behind developing those attractive visuals that grab the attention of the viewer or more importantly, the constructed details and backgrounds that make everything look realistic. The French visual effects artist, Benjamin Dupin, has achieved great success in his career by following his childhood passion for TV and film industry.

At present, he is all set for his grand project with the movie I, Tonya, which is to be released in 2018. He served as an on the set VFX artist, crowd TD and tracking supervisor for this movie. He said that the key to a crowd, especially in this movie, was to be sure to include realistic people all acting as human as possible. The best compliment about visual effects is that they go unnoticed. He took this project as a challenge as he had to deliver the best results with a small team and a short amount of time, but of course, he managed to do so and now his work will be revealed next year with the release of this movie.

Dupin had his own share of struggles and as a 16-year-old; he went through a surgery which put him to bed rest.  At this time, he started to develop an interest in visual effects by taking inspiration from the famous Star Wars Episodes. He received his full-time dual degree from the prestigious visual effects and 3D animation school-Isart Digital and soon went on to receive an apprenticeship with Zag Entertainment. He worked under several big media houses and departments and soon received recognition through his hard work and detail-oriented work.

Benjamin’s work for “The Scent of Mandarin”, directed by acclaimed French director Gilles Legrand brought him in the eyes of Eight VFX, a visual effects company based in Santa Monica. He grabbed this opportunity and since then he is working in Los Angeles while achieving new heights in his career. More information about his work can also be found on his IMDB page.
