New York, NY - Raquel “Rocky” Harris, a NYC-based well-known and decorated female Muay Thai fighter and Team USA athlete, as well as the owner of an independent personal training company named Strike’ng Fitness, this past month announced she will be making her debut into Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) following the completion of her upcoming training.
After remaining undefeated for the past two years in Muay Thai fighting with a 9-0 win streak, as well as securing a gold medal at a world kickboxing tournament representing Team USA, Harris announced she is excited to make her debut into the realm of MMA.
“Fighting, competition, and physical fitness have been my lifelong passions,” said Rocky. “As someone who has explored multiple areas of fighting-based fitness, I am incredibly excited to be interacting with MMA and realizing my full potential.”
Harris carries the nickname of Rocky after the infamous fictitious fighter of Rocky Balboa. Rocky’s performance style is so precise and balanced that opponents find it incredibly difficult to break her focus. She is known for being unforgiving in the ring, packing a punch that is ferociously fierce.
After wading into MMA, Rocky stated her goal is to ultimately sign with Invicta FC or UFC after completing her first 6 MMA fights.
“Though a career in MMA can at times be unstable, the opportunities overflow in a way that are much more recognizable than boxing or Muay Thai,” said Rocky. “I feel that my Muay Thai experience is going to translate over into a successful MMA push forward.”
Rocky has been competing in the world of martial arts since just the age of 15. She began her training with Karate and shortly thereafter received her first Dan. After 5-years, Muay Thai was calling her name, and the rest is now history.
