Real Estate Investing Rags to Riches

A junior project manager for a New York City advertising firm earning $30,000 annually turned his life around and now holds over $130 million in real estate.

Joe Fairless joined Jason Hartman as a guest on a recent episode of the Creating Wealth Show to share his rags to riches story. Fairless climbed the ladder at the ad firm, and when he earned enough, he began investing in real estate—all while remaining in his apartment for nine years.

“I bought my first place in 2009,” Fairless said. “I bought another a year later, another a year later and another a year later.” Of the four homes purchased in Texas, Fairless said three of four were profitable.

After attending a real estate conference and being told single family homes weren’t as profitable as apartment complexes, Fairless began investing in multi-unit housing.

Fairless explains to Hartman how he built his real estate empire by taking advantage of master leases and how he scaled the growth of his portfolio.
