OTTO Motors Test Drive Program and OTTO M Profiled in Supply and Demand Chain Executive Magazine

Supply and Demand Chain Executive magazine reported that OTTO M is the software that enables Industry 4.0 capability and connects OTTO self-driving vehicles with the material flow in a production line. OTTO M houses an industry-leading mapping experience brought to life with an intuitive mobile and desktop interface. Using OTTO M, customers are able to have their fleet of self-driving vehicles performing valuable work within hours of arriving at their facility. OTTO M also exposes a standard API for integration with systems like ERP and MES to orchestrate complex automation with existing enterprise software.

“OTTO M gives our customers a simple way to get started, but also the depth of integration needed for a full Industry 4.0 enterprise solution,” noted Simon Drexler, director of product at OTTO Motors.  The vehicles combine the reliability of an AGV, efficiency of a conveyor and flexibility of human decision-making by using sensors and artificial intelligence. The OTTO offers flexible automation and does not require fixed infrastructure (no beacons, magnetic tape or pre-defined laser paths). The vehicle comes in two form factors: the OTTO 1500 and OTTO 100. Both can drive over 4 miles per hour and they can be outfitted with different attachments to fit the needs of the facility and the payload. The OTTO platform provides obstacle detection and avoidance, and moves through facilities in the most efficient manner to reach the destination point. Each vehicle can operate 24/7 by using opportunity charging technology to autonomously visit its charger for frequent, rapid charges between missions.

Test Drive provides North American facility operators with a one week, low-risk trial of an Otto 100 or 1500 self-driving vehicle. The OTTO self-driving vehicles will be showcased at industry's most important event, Drive Manufacturing Summit, Oct 2-4, 2017. This unconventional conference will bring 350+ industry leaders together to network, inform and determine how change can be integrated back into their facilities.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE) magazine covers the entire global supply chain that focuses on ROI, professional development and change management, all in a solutions-based format. As a C-level and line-of-business executive, the mission-critical editorial solves supply chain challenges.
