** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ** Los Angeles, CA (April 14, 2017) - Vinnie “Randy” Vanatta is a con artist, devoid of any sense of morality. He’s made a living out of deceiving people, until one day when spiritual payback rears its ugly head in the form of a conflicted and tormented preacher.
Pastor Daniel Helms (Brett Donowho) is a man of God with a secretive past, and a very unhappy marriage. He and his wife Carla (Angel McCord) have recently moved to a small Kansas town in the hopes of starting a new life and getting their marriage back on track. When Vinnie (Ryan Donowho) shows up unexpectedly at their home to offer his handyman services, Carla is suspicious, while Pastor Daniel welcomes him into their home, declaring that it’s the Christian thing to do. Also caught in the cross hairs of Randy’s destructive path is Marlene (Giovanna Zacarias), a vulnerable and abused woman who comes to him for help in restoring her late mother’s heirloom stove. Randy takes full advantage of Marlene’s weak defenses and pulls her into his dangerous, dark world. The collision of these three persecuted souls combust into a gory struggle over not only their lives, but their eternal salvation.
SALVATION USA screened at the 2016 Dances with Films Festival, the highly regarded film festival dedicated to representing true independent cinema. At the LA Cinema Festival of Hollywood, the film brought home Best Narrative Feature, as well as Best Director, Best Actor and Best Special Effects. SALVATION USA alsoreceived Best Actor and Best Actress nominee at the Madrid International Film Festival, where it world premiered.
SALVATION USA is written by Bernie Van De Yacht and co-directed by Van De Yacht and Brett Donowho, Danny Rodriguez (Transcendent Entertainment) and Donowho (Tri-Fold Pictures) produced. Donowho is the creative force behind the successful Haunting film series. He wrote and produced A Haunting at the Park Hotel, and directed A Haunting at Silver Falls. Donowho is currently shooting the E/F/O Films backed action drama, Acts of Violence, starring Bruce Willis, Mike Epps and Sophia Bush. Donowho’s next picture is the sardonic bank heist film, Sexy Criminals, alongside the god-father of Korean cinema, Dong-Joo Kim. Kim produced the iconic Old Boy, among many other globally recognized Korean films. Sexy Criminals is set to begin production in Hungary later this fall.
