MIGHTY BADGE SURVEY REVEALS HOW CONSUMERS PURCHASE

"It is interesting to note that the majority of the consumers surveyed (63%) stated that it was important to see office products and speak with a sales representative at the point of purchase," says Kristin MacMillan, President of Imprint Plus, maker of The Mighty Badge. "From prior surveys, we know by professionally identifying sales associates by name, title and area of expertise promotes better customer relations and service, as well as contributes to repeat business."

NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 31, 2016 - To determine how consumers shop for office products, The Mighty Badge, small business, do-it-yourself, name badge division of Imprint Plus, sponsored a nationwide random survey of 1,000 men and women across the U.S. conducted by 72Point.

According to the survey, one third (33.6%) shop for office supplies and products at least once a month, with 43.7% shopping once every six months or less.  When asked where consumers purchase office products most often, the number one answer was the discount store at 51%, following by the office products store at 35%.

Within the office products category, an overwhelming number of consumers (87%) purchased stationary products, such as pens, paper, envelopes, notebooks, staplers, binders, and labels.  The next most purchased category was school supplies at 44.3%, following by electronics at 33.5%, janitorial supplies at 21%, and office furniture at 20%.  Products outside of the office products category, such as batteries/shipping materials, picture frames, labels, etc. accounted for 37.5% of the purchases. Nearly a third of those surveyed felt it was important that the office products store offered additional products for sale, such as bottled water, juice, smacks and light bulbs, among others.

“It is interesting to note that the majority of the consumers surveyed (63%) stated that it was important to see office products and speak with a sales representative at the point of purchase,” says Kristin MacMillan, President of Imprint Plus, maker of The Mighty Badge.  “From prior surveys, we know by professionally identifying sales associates by name, title and area of expertise promotes better customer relations and service, as well as contributes to repeat business.  A name badge is like a hand-shake and engages the customer.”

The study went on to reveal that 81% of those surveyed, tend to buy environmentally-friendly products or ones that can be recycled for reuse.  Nearly 95% of office products are purchased for the home with 31% purchased for business use and 22% for school.  Among those products that should be seen “in person” prior to making a purchase, respondents  named mobile devices (76%), office equipment (70%), and office furniture (66%).
