Layden and the Lion's next Record

Musician Seth Richard of Kaplan, Louisiana is seeking to raise $2000 in pledges to fund his new musical album by October 15, 2016. Seven backers have given $210.

“I’m a small town boy,” Richard stated. “I started off in punk rock bands when I was 12 years old.”

There are six levels in the Kickstarter pledge campaign, ranging from $5 to $100. Each level carries with it promised rewards. For example, the $5 level promises a free download of the album. The highest level guarantees a download, a vinyl recording, a t-shirt, and a spot appearance on the upcoming video to be shot after the album is released.

This record is intended to be Richard’s newest set of songs as band leader of his rock band Layden and the Lion although his credentials include other band appearances.

“I’ve played in many bands and had lots of experiences,” he stated. “I started playing by myself when I was 19, touring around the United States, which was unforgettable. I joined up with a group called Without Wanting, a Christian rock group from Kaplan, La, where I had come to meet my best friend Jason Petrey,”

After a few months Richard and Petrey found it in their hearts that it was time to move on to new things, like starting their own band.

“Together through the band, we met Noah Henson, guitarist for the Christian rock band Pillar, who [also] recorded a song for us,” Petrey said. “Layden and the Lion displays a passion for writing songs that everyone can relate to, whether it be an up-tempo feel good song, to a mid-tempo lyrically dark song, to a laid back acoustic song about the struggles of day to day life.”

The new record is to be recorded with Aaron Gillespie of Underoath/The Almost and Paramore. Gillespie will be producing the record and playing drums on it.

“This is a huge deal for me and a huge step up,” Richard said. “Now, I have interest from Labels so I want to make a good impression. I want to show I have a strong fan base. Hey, people are already pitching in that I never thought even knew I was playing music”

Richard’s band was recently robbed, and the perps got away with money and equipment, but the group has promised to persevere through this setback.

“I'm still dumping all I have into this record,” he stated. “So let's show them what we got. I am takin precautions in keeping my voice healthy.”
