Kyrgyz Republic Rehabilitation Center Launches Kickstarter Campaign for Snow Leopards

The Kyrgyz Republic Rehabilitation Center in Central Asia has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds to protect rare snow leopards and other animals.

The Kyrgyz Republic Rehabilitation Center in Central Asia was opened in 2002 with an enclosure for snow leopards and a separate enclosure for birds.  The total area of the enclosures is 7,000 square meters.  Now, the center has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to assist in wildlife rescue efforts.

The objectives of the center are to promote wildlife rescue; promote humane treatment of animals; provide treatment, care and rehabilitation for endangered wildlife; release animals into the wild after rehabilitation; and to transfer animals that cannot survive in the wild to nature centers for protection.  So far, the center has provided needed surgeries for snow leopards as well as the release of golden eagles and other animals back into their natural habitats.

Currently, the center is treating four snow leopards, two golden eagles, one steppe eagle, one buzzard, one black kite, one Himalayan griffon and one lynx.  The center has also treated four saker falcons that were confiscated at a local airport.  The employees at the center focus on saving and treating endangered animals of all types and in collecting information to help promote conservation efforts for all wildlife.

The Kickstarter campaign, located at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tracking-protecting-the-snow-leopards, seeks funds to support this work and to pay for studies that will provide scientific evidence of the snow leopard numbers, habits and other data that can help scientists and conservationists protect these and other animals. The Kickstarter campaign will feature pledge levels ranging from $3 to $60,000 with prizes from photos to visits to the center as a tourist.

For more information on specific pledge levels and associated prizes, see the Kickstarter page.
